What is CCTV Drain Survey?

A CCTV drain survey is when a small camera is pushed through a drain, pipe or sewer to locate the root of a blockage or damage in your drain. Whilst the camera navigates through the area, the findings are recorded and displayed on a monitor. This provides a detailed view of the problem and allows the problematic area to be tended to easily. Additionally, with this problem and the area being identified, a solution to the problem can be formulated and acted upon promptly.

We can't see a drainage problem when it is underground, whether it is drains, gullies, pits or pumps, it can be hard to know really just what's going on. Of course you can always dig a hole to find out, assuming you know exactly where to dig and that you are prepared for the possible consequences such as leaking sewerage, or missing the area altogether. Yet, frequently that is impracticable in many cases, nothing less than a visual assessment of the drain will provide the answer. That is where a CCTV survey provides you with the information to decide on a solution.

CCTV Survey Reports

Our CCTV cameras are inserted into the drain via an appropriate access point, such as a manhole or inspection chamber. It is then pushed or powered through the pipe. As the camera travels along the pipe the image is relayed to a monitor above ground where the operator will follow its progress and take note of any defects, recording their location within the length of the pipe. A survey report is then produced which lists the type and location of any defects.

This report, together with a diagram and DVD or CD Rom, is submitted to the client along with recommendations for remedial works that might take the form of excavation and replacement or lining works.
